⭐ A Lesbian, a Divorcee & a Married Woman Walk Into a Bar
A Joyfully Chaotic, Inclusive Musical With Heart, Humor, and a Surprise Ending That Brings the House Down
In an Off-Broadway season that’s craving stories filled with authenticity, humor, and heart, A Lesbian, a Divorcee, and a Married Woman Walk Into a Bar stands out as a vibrant, big-hearted surprise. It’s a musical comedy that centers strong female voices, celebrates the LGBTQ community, and still welcomes straight audiences with open arms. In other words: it’s for everybody who’s ever loved, laughed, or navigated the unpredictable chaos of relationships.
Maisano’s storytelling is bold, warm, and wickedly observant. She takes the classic “three women walk into a bar” setup and elevates it into a full-blown emotional and comedic bender.
The show opens with three women, each stepping forward with her own story—funny, raw, and universally relatable—delivered with the kind of timing usually heard in the best late-night conversations. Then, as if cued by collective audience instinct, each monologue melts into song that fits the moment like a glove. From classic ’60s gems to modern anthems, the music acts as a mood amplifier—powerful, poignant, and endlessly entertaining.
Act II turns the whole audience into a nightclub crowd for a blind karaoke contest with a $600 prize at stake. The result is a riot of camaraderie and joyful chaos—campy, clever, and irresistibly fun. It’s a moment where straight, queer, married, single, divorced—everyone feels included and carried along by the energy.
And then… the surprise ending.
No spoilers, but let’s just say it lands with the perfect blend of laughter, warmth, and emotional clarity—leaving the house in applause and grins that last long after the curtain falls.
At its core, this musical is a warm embrace: a celebration of friendship as chosen family, a tribute to the messy beauty of love in all its forms, and a reminder that we really are all in this together.
